Job Overview

Leads team of drafters using CAD software to generate detailed engineering drawings necessary to support engineering studies and reports. Works closely with design originators, preparing drawings or computer models of unusual, complex, or original designs that require a high degree of precision, performs unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise. Assures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved by the drawing produced, exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of the design intent. May occasionally interpret general designs prepared by others to complete minor details, may provide advice and guidance to lower-level drafters or serve as coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects. Oversees and coordinates drafting activities across multiple projects.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Be able to follow each Technical Drawing, Graphic and/or Technical Drawing project through to completion in accordance with USCG and C5ISC process for publication in the CGLIMS-STIP and/or applicable Government repository.
  • Shall incorporate redline drawing updates and corrections into existing AutoCAD formatted interconnection drawings, or develop new drawings as needed, to reflect all equipment changes, system modifications, or corrections and reflect current electronic drafting standards and formats.
  • Provide support to Product Line and ESD engineering services within the scope of CADD services. This includes but is not limited to attending meetings and providing input/direction to program/project managers regarding assigned tasks.
  • Provide deliverable final products in an editable electronic format such as AutoCAD with the latest compatible/approved version of AutoCAD software in .dwg file format.
  • Occasional travel to various CONUS/OCONUS locations in support of the systems outlined in PWS Section 1.1, as needed. Site Visits shall be used to conduct on-site evaluations of asset configuration and incorporate that information into Technical Drawings and Graphics.
  • CADD Operator/Drafter shall be the primary operational point of contact for the USCG COR and shall be located at USCG C5ISC, Portsmouth, VA.
  • Must complete any/all required trainings and follow all requirements and policies to gain and maintain user access to the CGOne network in accordance with CG Policy.
  • Ensures all team members understand and abide by Department of Homeland Security established rules, regulations and policies concerning safety and security.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
  • Must possess a working knowledge of develop, format, proof, edit/revise, and produce CADD drawings.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and Visio.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of the Adobe products, including Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Shall be proficient and qualified to develop, format, proof, edit/revise, produce and publish CADD drawings.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the submission of USCG technical drawings to CGLIMS-STIP.
  • Five(5) years of supervisory experience managing/leading at least one (1) year as CADD operator.
  • Four (4) years of drafting experience to include layouts, illustrations, wiring diagrams, and fabrication drawings (i.e., electrical, machine, and sheet metal/ship drawings).
  • Possess proficient writing skills.
  • Obtian and maintain a US Government SECRET security clearance.
  • Certification from a two (2) year accredited Technical School in the field of Drafting with six (6) years of drafting experience, or
    • High school diploma and eight (8) years of drafting experience; completion of an academic year at an accredited technical school may be substituted for up to one (1) year of experience.
