Job Description
Moffatt & Nichol is actively looking for a Senior Marine Structural Engineer to join our Honolulu, HI office. The Senior Structural Engineer shall have 15+ years of experience and the skills to lead the design of waterfront structures and marine infrastructure projects, including piers, wharves, marinas, vessel mooring and berthing structures, bulkheads, breakwater and shore protection structures.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Project management
  • Coordinate structural design with staff along with other disciplines to meet project schedules and budgets
  • Development of contract documents, including construction drawings and technical specifications
  • Production of schematic and detailed designs and evaluation of planning and concept alternatives
  • Preparation of design reports
  • Preparation of proposals and direct interface with clients and agencies
  • Perform periodic site visits and attend client meetings
  • Ability to effectively work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Mentoring of entry-level and junior staff
  • Participating in office business development strategy and implementation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required; Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred
  • Structural Engineer (P.E.) license in Hawaii or ability to gain within 6 months; required
  • 15+ years of structural design experience in waterfront structures; required
  • Understanding of NAVFAC Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build delivery methods desired
  • Experience effectively interacting with staff, vendors, clients and agencies
  • Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) certification in the Port Engineering category preferred
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Base salary range:

$154,000 to $188,000 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Hawaii markets.

Working conditions:

Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
