Job Description

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Junior Level Civil Engineer to join our Honolulu office. This position will assist with the planning, design, plan production, and possibly construction support a wide variety Federal, Municipal, and Private client projects which may include site civil design, rough & precise grading, dredging, drainage design, utility design (sewer, water, & storm drain).

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the completion of construction projects by preparing engineering design and documents and confirming specifications.
  • Assist in the design of construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models.
  • Assist in preparation of engineering designs by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data.
  • Assist in determining project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs.
  • Assist in the creation of feasibility studies by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; required
  • Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; preferred
  • EIT (Engineer in Training) Certification; preferred
  • 1-4 years of experience in general civil, waterfront, or construction engineering; required
  • Software experience:
    • AutoCAD exposure
    • MicroStation
    • Civil3D
    • SWMM exposure, strong plus
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation); required
  • Availability and willingness to travel to project sites
  • Due to client parameters, selected candidate must show (post offer) proof of U.S. citizenship and clear results of a thorough background check that may include but is not limited to credit and criminal history
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Base salary range:

$30.00 to $38.00 per hour based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Hawaii market.


Physical requirements:

Sedentary for long periods of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
