Job Description

SUMMARY

This role has a current pay range of $87,000 - $95,000. The listed pay range represents the company's good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum base rate of pay for this position at the time of this posting. The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on their work location, qualifications, relevant experience, operational needs, demonstrated performance over time, and internal pay alignment. The Accounting Supervisor supports the Assistant Controller by performing general accounting and other financial functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:

  • Directly supervises Sr Coordinator-Finance (Accounts Payable) and Sr Coordinator-Accounting
  • Responsible for overseeing accounting procedures, internal controls (implementing, monitoring, enhancing) as it relates to Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets/Capital Expenditures and other licensing requirements.
  • Reviews and analyzes certain financial information for accuracy and takes appropriate action when information is not correct
  • Provides backup support for invoice processing and payment function
  • Assists in the monthly general ledger closing process
  • Oversees the closing process of Accounts Payable subledger
  • Prepares and submits Fixed Asset additions/retirement information with related supporting documents to Shared Services team
  • Prepares and reviews various monthly and miscellaneous journal entries
  • Reviews and analyzes various balance sheet accounts and prepares related account reconciliations
  • Manages the accounting for the Elan Corporate Card activity
  • Manages the accounting for Facilities Technician billable time
  • Provides required Capital Expenditure internal reports and provides guidance relating compliance with the Company's capitalization policies
  • Prepares or oversees completion of certain required State and Federal regulatory reports and/or tax filings
  • Train staff on internal control procedures, accounting processes and procedures; assists the Assistant Controller and Controller as needed
  • Prepares schedules as required for quarterly reviews, annual audit and responds to any related financial audit or SOX compliance inquiries
  • Works on special projects as requested
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting or related fields
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in the accounting field
  • Proficiency with PC-based computer systems and with Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook)
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory
  • Proficient in the management of accounting processes and the development and implementation of internal controls
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly detail oriented, have a professional attitude, reliable, and well organized
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction to accomplish objectives
  • Must be able to use a 10-key calculator by touch

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years supervisory experience preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works under regular office conditions.

Equipment use:

  • Continuous use of a computer, printer, copier and scanner, 10-key calculator and file cabinets
  • Frequent use of a telephone, shredding machine, and fax machine
  • Occasional use of a typewriter

Work Hours:

  • Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
  • Extended hours as required to achieve objectives

  • Requires proficiency and accuracy in data entry

  • Continually requires sitting at station for extended period of time; handling of files; use of eye-hand-foot coordination and use of corrected vision
  • Occasionally requires standing and walking
  • Occasionally requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching; use of depth perception, wide field of vision, or color vision; pushing, lifting carrying up to 25 pounds (i.e. archival files) or visiting/working at other sites

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:

  • Continually requires reading
  • Frequently requires receiving and giving instructions
  • Requires talking to co-workers and meeting requests of co-workers
  • Requires talking to outside trade people/vendors; meeting requests of outside trade people/vendors and auditors
  • Effectively communicates in a professional and tactful manner in both verbal and written skills.
  • Good ability to interact well with all levels of employees and management
